Introducing ADK pest control
As part of the Company's expanding service offering, ADK will now be offering pest control services. The new provision will be overseen by Dr Emma Morley, an Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment member and BASIS qualified and approved expert in pesticide application. Control methods will include traditional pesticide based and alternative eradication options for pests such as wasps, rats, problem birds and other unwelcome infestations. For further details, see the 'Pest Control' option on our webpage.

October 2009

ADK once again gains full ISO Accreditation
For the fifth year running ADK Environmental Management has successfully achieved triple ISO accreditation via an independent third party audit at its Northern Office at Lancaster Environment Centre for; OHSAS9001 (Quality); ISO18001 (Health & Safety) and ISO14001 (Environment). This year was the rigorous tri-annual audit, which was passed with 'no nonconformities'. An exceptional result, congratulations to the team!

September 2009

Another successful river crossing
Following on from the hugely successful Hayswater AMP 3 river crossing, in the Lake District National Park; ADK have been integral in another pipeline project at a environmentally sensitive river site near Penrith. Our dedicated team of qualified environmental specialists were on 24 hour call to ensure that valuable crayfish friendly habitat was protected and that our client complied with all legislation relevant to flora and fauna in such a vulnerable and specialised habitat.

August 2009

ADK awarded prestigious BBSRC grant
Following a rigorous assessment and approval process, ADK are proud to announce their success in a bid to secure funding for a BBSRC Ph. D. The project will last 3 years and will be co supervised by Dr Emma Morley, ADK's Director of Research & Development. It will provide valuable insight into predator / prey interactions in agricultural field margins and widen the Company's ever growing expertise on the subject of Biocontrol, to reduce pesticide application and greatly benefit the environment as a whole.

July 2009

Another successful ADK MSc student
Congratulations to Flora Kqiku our Kosovan MSc student, for completing her course. As part of ADK's investment into Lancaster University's impressive pool of student talent, for the past two years, the Company has been devising and mentoring student projects, to enable the next generation of talented environmentalists from across Europe to gain business specific experience of their chosen field. Flora's project 'A Review of Problems Caused By Water Borne Invasive Plants, Surrounding Legislation and Control Mechanisms' has provided an invaluable point of reference for the Company's growing expertise in the discipline of invasive plant remediation.

June 2009

November 2008

ADK Environmental has again been successful via an independent third party audit at its Northern Office at Lancaster Environment Centre in keeping its triple ISO accreditation for and integrated Management System containing all three standards; ISO14001 Environmental, ISO9001 Quality, and OHSAS 18001Health and Safety.

This is the fourth successive year that ADK have been operating this invaluable management system in order to help deliver timely project success with our clients. ADK continue to look to adopt new standards for the future regarding environmental communication. Coupling this with our cutting edge R&D at Lancaster University around plant and animal biology and ecology as well as contaminated land we aim to strive to give clients sound environmental and independent advice and solutions to a range of environmental issues.

May 2007

ADK were an integral part alongside Lancaster Environment Centre in giving a series of presentations to both their staff and students as well as other business, stakeholders and Local Authorities in respect of current research and development relating to contaminated land, brownfield land and associates' remediation issues.

April 2007

ADK has now set up its new northern office based at Lancaster University in the newly built £35m state of the art Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC). This opened in Spring 2007 and allows ADK to have a high business profile location in association with a leading UK and internationally-recognised research led university.

March 2007

After having a successful 3rd party audit ADK has now been accredited to the following international ISO certification awards for 9001: 2000 Quality Management, ISO 14001: 2004 Environmental Management and OHSAS 18001: 1999 Health & Safety.

June 2006

After working for nearly two years alongside a leading national construction and utilities company providing environmental and ecological surveys, assessments, reports and advice, ADK was proud to receive an Environmental and Ecological Major Project award in relation to protecting and enhancing the biodiversity of Cumbria, during the construction of two new water pumping stations and 43km of associated potable water pipeline within the Lake District National Park.

June 2005

ADK Environmental were successful in completing numerous ecological habitat surveys for protected species (such as white-clawed crayfish, otter, salmon, trout, bullhead, lamprey, River Jelly Lichen and other aquatic plant species) over a period of one year, and subsequently gained consent from the Environment Agency and English Nature (now Natural England) for our client in order that they could ‘open-cut' through a SSSI and cSAC river in the Lake District National Park as a part of a multi-million pound project to install 43km of potable water pipeline . This river is home to the indigenous population of White-clawed crayfish, a European protected species. It was initially commented upon negatively (by other environmental consultants, stakeholders and statutory consultees) that consent would either not be granted, or at the very least, extremely difficult to obtain.
